happy employees - whichtop10

Work is a part of life. But then again, it is just a part of life – not one’s whole life. That’s why it is essential that the workplace you are at is a great one. Are you ready to find out which top 10 companies have the happiest employees?

Before that, what exactly makes an employee a “happy” employee? Well, there are certain concrete and measurable parameters on the basis of which an employee is considered a happy one. An employee’s thoughts about the following things decide this:

  • Work-life balance
  • Whether or not (s)he is being paid enough
  • Benefits provided
  • Peace of mind
  • Whether or not the employee feels burnt out at work
  • Excitement about going to work
  • How likely they would recommend someone to join their company
  • Work environment

Upon reading this list, you’ll come to an interesting conclusion – most of the companies are tech companies. Anyway, here are the top ten companies with the happiest employees.

IBM

An American tech company, IBM, though not as generous as tech giants, is a pretty decent place to work at.

The compensation packages, according to anonymous reviews posted on Glassdoor, are not as good as they should be. The working hours are flexible which gives employees great control over their work-life balance.

The workplace is harassment-free and, there is a lot of room for growth and personal development. Though there are almost a quarter-million employees, it’s not difficult to stand out from the crowd. Perks like 401(k) plans, retirement plans, and short-term and long-term disability plans make working at IBM worth it.

Zoom Video Communications

An app that took off in the pandemic, Zoom Video Communications is apparently one of the best places to work at.

Not only are employees satisfied with the work-life balance but are also pretty happy with the compensation. In fact, according to Comparably, Zoom was number 4 for best compensation in 2020, and according to Glassdoor, it was at the 22nd number.

Comparably ranked it at number 9 in a list of companies with the happiest employees.

RingCentral

RingCentral was put on the seventh spot on the list of companies with the best compensation in 2020. Reviews of employees on GlassDoor reflect the same.

RingCentral is focused a lot on growing. For some, this might be a downside. As some employees have stated, the fast-paced growing environment can get hectic at times.

Though there are only 5-6 weeks of vacation per year, the work-life balance is pretty good. It does get hectic at times, but that’s only in the office.

A lot of employees have spoken up against favoritism. In fact, even in reviews on GlassDoor, many employees have complained about acquaintances being hired on administrative positions. That’s something you might want to keep in mind.

Facebook

The second-best compensating company in 2020 according to Comparably, Facebook is one of the tech giants known for its great compensation packages. It’s not just the compensation that the company is known for.

Employee benefits like health insurance, decent retirement plans, and ample leisure time are some of the reasons that make people love Facebook.

However, there have been many reports by employees of Facebook’s racist actions. Some employees also spoke up against Facebook. That is something to keep in mind – especially if you’re a person of color.

NVIDIA

According to a survey, 95% of employees feel good about their contribution to society; 97% of employees feel proud to say they work at NVIDIA.

In the US, 59% of employees consider their company a great workplace to work in. Compare that to the 95% of employees who say that NVIDIA is a great place to work, and you’ll soon realize how good the company is.

According to Glassdoor, NVIDIA is the second-best place to work at.

LinkedIn

As famous as it is for connecting employers and employees, LinkedIn itself is just as famous for working. 25 days off per year, 401(k) plans, insurance and great compensation packages attract quite the people to the company.

Although the work-life balance is not as great as it is with other companies, other things make up for it. The environment is a fun one, and one doesn’t get bored of working there.

LinkedIn is one of the only few companies the managers of which listen to their employees and act accordingly. Because of this, people feel heard and do not feel left out.

Microsoft

One of the tech giants with some of the best packages. According to Comparably, Microsoft had the third-best compensation package in 2020.

For the work-life balance part, Microsoft isn’t exactly a great option. Many employees have complained about the fast-paced environment and tight deadlines.

The compensation and benefits, however, are unparalleled – only matched by some tech giants like Google.

The special thing, however, is the room for growth. The managers and seniors are more than willing to help you grow. Because of this, you’ll be able to climb the corporate ladder quite quickly.

HubSpot

If you’re looking for a great work-life balance, HubSpot is one of the best companies to work at. HubSpot is one of the most fun places to work at.

The company frequently organizes fun events like scavenger hunts, water-cooler events, and whatnot. Not to forget that the company pays a handsome amount of money to spend on education.

However, this is not the best part. The best part about working at HubSpot is the unlimited vacations. This is a unique initiative to keep employees from burning out. Hybrid working modes are also available which make everything even easier.

Employee resource groups have been made to prevent any sort of elimination.

Adobe

Though the direct compensation is not as much as that of other big companies, it still is pretty good. However, that is not what makes Adobe a great working place.

It is the employee benefits that make the place worth it. 401k plans, maternal and paternal leaves, educational reimbursement of $10,000 per year, off-time, and generous leaves are some of the things that make this a great place to work.

The work-life balance is pretty decent despite the company being a big one. All in all, the company is a great one to work at.

Google

Google is hands down the best place to work at. In 2020, Google (according to Comparably) had the best compensation package. Free lunch and snacks, 401k plans, and insurance are only some of the notable benefits.

What makes Google the best workplace are the on-site facilities. Google cares a lot about its employees’ mental health. There are dedicated spaces for employees to relax and chill whenever they don’t feel like working.

As you might have noticed, almost all of the listed companies have great compensation packages. It’s more of a question of the work-life balance and other benefits provided. Oh, I forgot to mention things like a sense of fulfillment and bringing value to society also matters a lot.

Other than In-N-Out, all of the companies with the happiest employees are tech giants. A few of these companies are allegedly racist – especially against people of color. You might want to look into that before applying there.

Since these companies provide their employees with the best, they also expect a lot from them. That’s why it’s no easy task to land a job in these companies. But if you’ve got what it takes, it’s definitely worth it.
